American businessman Abdullah Ashraf has been confirmed as the new owner of Tamworth Football Club, completing a transatlantic deal that brings the historic English club into the Dawn Group International portfolio.
Tamworth, England – June 16, 2026
The 24-year-old real estate investor has taken charge of the National League side through his US firm, Dawn Group International (DGI), and has wasted no time in setting out his ambition: to lead Tamworth into the English Football League.
Tamworth becomes the second club to join the DGI group, following the establishment of Oklahoma United FC in 2024. The agreement completes months of intense negotiations and approval from the relevant football authorities.
I’m exceptionally excited and blessed to be the next custodian of Tamworth Football Club. Now it’s time to build on those successes and take the club to even greater heights, and I intend to make the dream of Tamworth playing in the EFL a reality.
Ashraf, who takes the role of Chairman, has pledged to be a hands-on owner rather than a distant one, promising to fly over frequently to support the club and the town, and to quickly become a familiar face at the ground.
He was warm in his tribute to previous owners Bob Andrews and Steve Lathbury, crediting their four decades of stewardship (including back-to-back promotions, the 2024/25 FA Cup run, and stabilising the club in the National League) as the foundation he now intends to build upon.
